YouTube Symphony Orchestra
As an amateur musician myself, I am just excited with this revolutionary concept. This removes all barriers you experience with real-life auditions.
I still remember when I studied Music I had to engage myself into going to tons of auditions. Every audition included the same issues; hour-long queues, nervously standing alone on a huge stage, playing in front of a judging panel and praying it would be over soon!
Playing in an symphonic orchestra is one of the most relaxing and fun things to do. Nothing beats the experience of life music; especially the magic of a full symphony orchestra. I have been playing in various of non-professional orchestras for over 10 years and this is the first time I will audition with full confidence!
Play your part in music history and join the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. You just need to upload two videos: your contribution to the Tan Dun piece and a general audition video. Good luck! Watch the introduction video for more information.
YouTube is offering musicians around the globe the opportunity to join a symphony orchestra via video through the world’s first collaborative online orchestra. This is a chance to perform alongside world-renowned conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, learn from composer Tan Dun and many members of the London Symphony Orchestra, and consult with pianist Lang Lang. All video entries will be combined into the first-ever collaborative virtual performance, and people around the world will select their favorites to perform at New York’s Carnegie Hall in April 2009.
